Professional Experience - Ms Chaves is a Senior Officer at the Portuguese Industrial Property Office and managed projects like Creation of a Technology Transfer Office at University of Lisbon, from EPO and Enterprise Europe Network, from EC. She was the IP and Tech Transfer Coordinator at Madan Science Park - New Lisbon University, during 4 years and was responsible for:
- implement an IP office;
- create an IP policy at Nova;
- manage the IPR portfolio;
- provide the patent-related expertise needed forthe knowledge transfer process;
- strength the links between university and industry by promoting commercialization of research results, based on IPR’s.
Education - Ms Chaves has a degree in Sociology, issued by the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra. She was a Scientific Research Assistant at the Social Studies Centre and has successfully concluded a Post-Graduate Course in Consumer Law, organized by the Faculty of Law in the same University. She pursued studies in Sociology of Innovation, and apply for a MSc Degree at the same University (in a Master and PhD Program), with a focus in Industrial Property, named “Entrepreneur University in the XXI century: the strategic use of the Industrial Property” (thesis presentation pending).
She’s author of several papers about IP and the valorization of R&D results within the academic context, and participation in several conferences, workshops and advanced courses, and member of international networks addressing the issues of technology transfer and IPR.
Key Interests - Valorization of Intellectual Property; Evaluation of early stage technologies; Drafting and negotiation of tech transfer agreements; Royalties % determination; Marketing of Technologies.
Personal Interest - She loves dancing with a passion for Flamenco. Her favorite pastimes are reading, good food, and time spent with friends and family.
