Pedro Silva serves TecMinho, the knowledge transfer office of the University of Minho in Portugal, as a Technology Transfer and Industry Liaison Officer.

Professional Experience - Mr. Silva is a technology transfer officer with 6 years of experience at TecMinho. He has developed comprehensive knowledge of the whole valorization cycle of R&D results, from early technology scouting to effective transfer and adoption of innovative technologies. Furthermore, he also serves the University of Minho as an industry liaison for strategic partnerships, R&D, and innovation projects drafting and management to meet industry needs. He has been responsible for the operational management of TecMinho’s involvement in the Innovation Relay Centers Network, the world’s largest technology transfer network, from 2004 until 2008. As an expert on innovation management, technology transfer, strategic partnerships, and IPR he has been consultant of a few hundred Portuguese companies. This expertise has also enabled him to manage several National and European projects on innovation, technology transfer and regional development issues. His international experience includes delivering tech transfer training and to participating as a spokesperson in conferences and workshops.

Education - Mr. Silva holds a BA in International Relations (Economics) from the Technical University of Lisbon and a Post-Graduation in European Studies from the University of Coimbra. He has also attended advanced course studies in Portugal and the UK around themes such as innovation management and R&D valorization, IPR issues, technology commercialization and project management. Besides his native language (Portuguese), he speaks fluent English, Italian and Spanish and he is also conversant in French and German.

Personal Interest - He is an electronic music producer, DJ, and beach volleyball player. His favorite pastimes are traveling, the arts in general, philosophy, global development and humanitarian issues, cooking, sports, and time spent with national and international friends and family.
