Summer 2009 Internship, Phase 1

The first phase of the internships in Austin, Texas in May will focus on
two primary goals:

1) Orientation to the University of Texas ecosystem, culture, and Internship Training Program with detailed planning sessions to identify key learning opportunities/hosts for each trainee and to align internship activities/deliverables with the on-going strategic plans of each TTO office.

2) Delivery of formal training to include the first half of the UTEN Austin 2009 Technology Commercialization Curriculum with a certificate to be awarded upon completion.

The May training curriculum will address the following subjects:
1. Licensing, negotiations, and closing the deal
2. Formation, launch, and growth of university spin-outs
3. Technology development and licensing to meet the needs of industry
4. Running a TTO to optimize technology commercialization
5. Marketing skills for TTO’s
6. Entrepreneurial skills for TTO’s
7. Technology screening and market validation methodologies for TTO’s
8. How to foster and develop effective business incubation
