Universidade Nova de Lisboa welcomes 2nd UTEN Training Week 2010

UTEN Portugal is organizing the 2nd UTEN Training Week 2010, which will take place between 15 and 19 March, at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL). The training week is dedicated to “Spin-offs, Venture Creation and Business Intelligence” and is being organized with the support of UTEN@Austin and UNL.

The event’s main speaker will be Brett Cornwell, director of Commercialization Services for the Office of Technology Commercialization at The Texas A&M University System, and the person responsible for the New Ventures Division, which provides services to support the commercialization of technologies from the Texas A&M University System and the establishment of start-up companies based on Texas A&M technology.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP MASTERCLASS

The School of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT/UNL) has recently launched the course ‘ENTREPRENEURSHIP – Turning ideas into assets’ for students enrolled in Master’s programs. In the current edition of the course, students in the first year of doctoral programs who have not taken any courses on entrepreneurship have also been accepted.

This course is intended to motivate students for entrepreneurship and the need for technological innovation. It covers a list of topics and tools that are important for new venture creation as well as for the development of creative initiatives within existing enterprises.

Nova Idea Competition is the Business Plan Competition opened to all students from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. The 2nd Edition of the Competition is now taking place and fifteen teams (65 students) from seven different UNL schools are participating. This competition gives the students a hands-on experience on how to turn ideas in to business and promotes the multidisciplinary work by joining students with different backgrounds. All information is available at: www.unl.pt/novaidea.

The UTEN Program supports these initiatives and is very pleased to invite TTOs, innovation managers and entrepreneurs for a public session with Professor Chris Lowe, from the University of Cambridge, and Brett Cornwell, from UTEN. This session will take place on the 16th of March, from 3-5 pm, at Reitoria da UNL (Campus de Campolide).
