UTEN- Austin Program Manager for Training and Internships

IC2 and UTEN- Eli D. Mercer is responsible for the design and delivery of technology commercialization curriculum in the UTEN program to impart skills, knowledge, and know-how as well as foster collaborative networks among TC stakeholders in Portugal and Texas.

Genesis Consulting- He is also owner of Genesis Consulting in Austin, Texas- providing customized training, education, and development (professional and organizational) in the areas of global start-up and expansion and technology commercialization.

Professional Experience- Mr. Mercer is a seasoned entrepreneur and consultant with 17 years of experience building/growing companies large and small including highly successful intrapreneurial ventures in telecommunications and digital media in the US and Mexico, two event marketing operations in financial services, two of his own entrepreneurial ventures (a small consulting services firm and a franchise business) in the US and Germany, and one not-for-profit web-based community benefiting the performing arts in Germany and Holland. He also served as the founding General Manager and Global Enterprise Scholar at the Thunderbird Center for Global Entrepreneurship (Now the Walker Center for Global Entrepreneurship) where he managed the initial launch of centers for excellence in Global Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity, Corporate Venturing, Social Entrepreneurship, Family Enterprise, as well as the Thunderbird Business Incubator.

Education- Mr. Mercer holds a BA in international Business, Spanish, French, and German from the University of Texas at Arlington, an MS in Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA in International Business from Thunderbird School of Global Management. He has also attended advanced course studies in Spain, Germany, France, Costa Rica, Singapore, China, India, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Personal Interest- He is a singer, songwriter, and poet with a passion for the arts and live performance. His favorite pastimes are live music, good food, and time spent with friends and family.
