Dr. Gibson is Associate Director and The Nadya Kozmetsky Scott Centennial Fellow, IC² (Innovation, Creativity, Capital) Institute, The University of Texas at Austin (www.ic2.utexas.edu). In 1983, he received a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Sociology with a concentration in organizational behavior and communication theory. His dissertation was on the management of innovation. He teaches Knowledge/Technology Transfer and Adoption in IC²’s MSTC degree program. During 1999-2000, Dr. Gibson served as a Fulbright Scholar at Insituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal.
Dr. Gibson’s research and publications focus on technology transfer/commercialization; cross-cultural communications and management, and the growth and impact of regional technology centers. He is a consultant to businesses, academia, and governments worldwide and has made professional and keynote presentations in the U.S., Europe, South America, and Asia. Dr. Gibson is author and editor of 11 books. His journal publications and papers have been translated into Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Finnish, and Portuguese. Dr. Gibson is Chair of the International Conference on Technology Policy and Innovation (www.ictpi08.in) and he is Director of the International Collaboratory for Emerging Technologies (CoLab) with the Government of Portugal (www.utaustinportugal.org).
